Almost Eight Years

April 15, 2008

Well as I said I want to begin to share my story with you. I will take some time each day to share my journey with you.

Almost eight years ago we had accepted a job at Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship as the new youth pastors. My wife at the time was three months pregnant and through much prayer and guidance we packed up most of our belongings and headed to the big city. We did not have a place to live yet but were able to stay with a great family while we began the search for a place to live. We saw place after place and all the while trying to put a youth ministry back together that had gone from 250 kids to 12, but we were up for the task.

During this time I developed flew like symptoms that I was not able to shake. I was feeling tired and run down so I made a trip to a family doctor who assured me it was nothing more then allergies. That was strange because I was not allergic to anything. I decided I would just push through how I was feeling and it would pass. It didn’t. I started to feel worse, headaches, sore teeth, short of breath, vomiting. It was getting pretty bad. Now we had planned and planned for the new launch of the youth ministry that was amazing. We had just over 90 students out the first night and the place was electric, but I felt horrible, physically beat up.

The next day we had a doctors appointment to get an ultrasound for my wife. It was amazing to see our baby developing, what an incredible feeling knowing that in a little over three months I was going to get to hold our baby. After that appointment we decided to run over to the walk in clinic to get myself looked at.

I was taken right away and got to see an older doctor who looked at me and said I was looking very pale and he wanted to do an old fashioned blood test on me. After pricking my finger, putting blood on a slide and looking through this view finder several times. He then put it down and looked at me and said these words that you never want to hear from a doctor…..
